Split Pin
A split pin, also known as a cotter pin, is a metal fastener that features two tines. After it is inserted, these tines are bent to secure a nut or bolt in place. Split pins are commonly used in automotive, machinery, and mechanical applications to prevent loosening caused by vibration or movement. Made from soft metals such as stainless steel or brass, split pins offer a simple and reliable locking mechanism. They can also be easily removed for maintenance or adjustments.
